Reading of the courageous missionaries to the Lamanites--Ammon and his brethren--I was reminded of a story from the life of Gordon B. Hinckley. In the 1960s, then Elder Hinckley and his wife were visiting the missions in Asia. They also accompanied four elders to the Philippines to open up the mission there. As Elder Hinckley and his wife were getting ready to leave the Philippines, Sister Hinckley was concerned for the safety and well-being of the young men, since they would be "all alone." Elder Hinckley reminded her that they would not be all alone, they were on the Lord's errand.
Great was the work of the elders in the Philippines, and tens of thousands like them in tiny or vast regions throughout the world, who serve because they are motivated by a love of the Lord, his people, and his gospel.
