On Conditions of Repentance

If you google "Repent" and look at the images, you'll see a wide range (as always). There are cartoons, the cynical, the satirical, and of course genuine attempts to capture the conditions of repentance.

Let's try a mental image. As you read the words found in the Doctrine and Covenants, try to get your own picture of what repentance means to you.

Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God; For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him. And he hath risen again from the dead, that he might bring all men unto him, on conditions of repentance. And how great is his joy in the soul that repenteth. Wherefore, you are called to cry repentance unto this people (18:10-13).

Do you see in your mind's eye and feel in your heart the love of the Savior of the World? Do you consider the great, the infinite, blessing He has given you (and all mankind)? Do you consider the "conditions of repentance?" Do you seek the joy that comes from repenting?

Besides joy, there are many other blessings that come from repenting. "Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God" (Helamn 3:35).
The key to unlocking the power of the Atonment (at-one-ment, also) is our own efforts to repent and yield our hearts unto Jesus Christ. "And there is none other name given whereby man can be saved" (D&C 18:23).

Our worth is great in His sight, but it requires our meeting the conditions of repentance. Surely there is something you and I can do today that will help "bring [us] unto him."
Now take a moment to consider the blessings of repentance, offered to us by a loving God. What would you add to the list?
